With a one day break from radiation it was back to work as usual the next day.  I was quickly developing some skin damage and it would not be long until my skin would begin to peel.  Getting a sunburn on your shoulders or back is never enjoyable, but getting one on your genitals, is as bad as it gets.  With a tumor based in my prostate though, there was no way around some rough side effects, as I was receiving blanket radiation from my upper thighs to the base of my neck.


3/10 - Phenergan x 3, Radiation, emesis.

3/11 - Phenergan 0600, to school, complained of stomach hurting, phenergan 1400/2015; played outside, appetite up @ dinner drinking milk.  weighed 52# @ radiation.  B&O @ 2100. Intake 1100, out 900.  

3/12 - B&O @ 1700 went to ball game to watch, Intake 900 out 600. slept all night. 

3/13 - Phenergan 0800, stomachache, tired. nap 3.5 hours. zero appetite. B&O @2100 slept all night.  

3/14 - vitamin; glycerin supp. 1145, B&O x 1, urine through penis, good appetite, went to Miles City tournament game, slept until 0530.  

3/15 - Phenergan @ 0530, Glycerin supp @ 0900, 1/2 B&O supp.  vitamin, medium emesis, hasn't taken bactrim for a week.  

3/16 - 50 1/4 # WBC 2,000, HCT 32, HG 10.9 Vincristine, Radiation, complained of stomach pain, large emesis, napped post emesis, phenergan x 3, B&O @ 1830.  (Days when I had both chemo and radiation were tough and usually, like this day, came with a lot of throwing up.) Catheter clamped x 2 45 minutes each - opened 10 minutes, urinated and complained of pain.  (I still had my super pubic cath and they began to clamp it off to see if I could begin to urinate normally.  At times I could but it usually came with a sharp burning pain.) Intake 500 output 1050. 

3/17 - stomach ache, phenergan x 2. Radiation Cancelled - has gastritis from radiation. given chewable gaviscon.  ate small bowl of cream of wheat, first solid food since yesterday @ noon.  B&O @ 1900, tolerated 1/2 day school - stomach ached too much.  Gaviscon 1/2 tab. x 3 tonight, slept all night.  

Gastritis is an inflammation (irritation and swelling) of the lining of the stomach.

Symptoms

• Vomiting blood or coffee-ground like material

Gaviscon is used for treating acid indigestion, heartburn, and sour stomach. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor. Gaviscon Chewable Tablets are an antacid. It works by neutralizing acid in the stomach.
